Video Premiere: Fthmlss - Niagra

Watch the stunning new collaborative film for British producer’s latest single of water-inspired atmospheric downtempo beats

Out a few weeks ago, Manchester-based fthmlss’ latest single Niagra is two and a half minutes of beatsy bliss, channelling the greats of the 00s L.A. scene like Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing and Daedelus, with his own spin on things. This spin includes a heavy water influence, including beautiful field recordings, that will carry over to his forthcoming album as he explains “from high-energy waterfalls smashing through rocky cliffs to serene streams running through the meadows. This project is an ode to water and gives thanks to the life it provides on this peculiar planet.”

Ready to take this water theme to the next level, fthmlss has teamed up with director Liam Higgins (dsplaced) to further explore the connection between water and human strength. The video sees a performance from Leeds-based dancer Olivia Richards, whose fluid performance by the oceanside captures this connection visually in a rhythmic, hypnotic fashion.

Regarding the video, Higgins explains "We wanted to create a performance piece with the track, a film where there is complete synergy between the sound, visual and movement, allowing all three elements to shine in their own right."

Give Niagra a watch as it premieres on Pilerats today and stay tuned for more updates on fthmlss new album!
