Premiere: Kormak gets heavy on heaving remix of Go Freek's Put It Down

The Sydney-based DJ digs deep for the hefty remix, out through Sweat It Out.

We've always had a soft spot for heavy house bangers, a spot almost constantly filled with Go Freek's unique gutter-tech sound. Back in the day (like, way back) we introduced them as one of our favourite Australian dance acts, a title they've pretty much held ever since with the mounds of originals, remixes and collaborations they've dropped since. Midway through last month, they returned with Put It Down, a wonky new tune which today, has been flipped on its head in the track's first remix. The remix comes courtesy of Kormak, a Sydney-based DJ who has delivered a couple of fine tracks on Medium Rare Recordings and recently, was appointed a resident of the new Ministry Of Sound super-club. Kormak's take on Put It Down takes the club-ready vibe of the original and really kicks it up a notch, transforming Go Freek's signature sound into a bassy epic which still has shades of the original's gutter-tech feel. The remix is about as heavy as it gets, with a bulging bassline and vocal cuts from the original thumping across the remix's lengthy duration, creating that perfect, clubby sound which fits in perfectly with the original and the remixes still to come.
