Premiere: Paji - Hewa
Berlin-based producer releases his first music of the year, soak up his mesmerising new cut of violin-infused house ahead of release
After releasing his first new music in three years last November with the deep sounds of Awat, Paji is back with a fresh single, the second on his own Jîyan imprint, with Hewa out April 14 but premiering on Pilerats today!
Using his time away from releasing tunes to intensively train violin and other acoustic instruments, Paji has used his newly acquired skills to take his studio productions to the next level, as we can hear on Hewa.
Translated as “air” in Kurdish, Hewa is an atmospheric and elevating slice of house music, with sweeping string arrangements providing the centrepiece to the composition alongside uplifting piano progressions, a bubbly groove-laden bassline and big drums, resulting in 5 minutes of electronic bliss.
On his label and new single, Paji explains “My label Jîyan translates to life in Kurdish, my mother’s native language. I’ve always been inspired by the element of “air” and how we can use sound to recreate the feelings that this powerful element evokes. When I began producing “Hewa,” I started off with a violin riff, which reminded me of something airy. It seemed natural to name the song “Hewa,” which translates to “air,” one of the four essential elements of life. From there the name just stuck.”
With a lot of new music set for release this year, give Paji’s new single Hewa a listen ahead of its April 14 release!
