Life On Tour In The US With cln

Life On Tour In The US With cln

The Brissy beatsmith had one heck of a time.

Following the release of his Mist and Owls tracks, nice guy cln has sent us a candid insight into life on the American road. And not only that, he's kindly given us some hot tips on food around the good ole U S of A.

Stop 1: New York

Best thing I ate: NY PIZZA

After about 24 hours of travelling, the first stop of the tour was Brooklyn. I took my partner on tour with me, because she is good at waking me up and making sure I get to shows/airports on time. So I guess she was a bit like my tour manager. We spent four days in NY. Highlights included watching a Broadway show and most of the typical NY attractions (Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, getting lost on the subway etc.).

My show was at Baby’s All Right, which is a really awesome venue. I was headlining and played to a pretty full room. That was a weird feeling, since I was on the other side of the world. It was 35°C so it was nice and sweaty.

Also did some shopping and copped some NMD’s for retail price yeah boi.

Stop 2: Copemish

Best thing I ate: Grilled Cheese from a festival vendor (so good)

Michigan is so beautiful. I drove on the right hand side of the road for the first time which was scary, but we got to see the scenery a bit so it was worth it. I played at UpNorth Festival, which is in the middle of nowhere in a big forest. I only had one day in Michigan, hopefully will be able to stay longer next time.

Unfortunately our bags got broken into at Detroit airport, which sucked. Nothing important stolen though thankfully, but we had to buy new bags ☹.

Stop 3: Chicago

Best thing I ate: DEEP DISH PIZZA

I drove from Copemish to Chicago, which was around five hours. The Chicago show got cancelled, so we had a bit of a break for a few days. I ate way too much food, explored the city and went for a swim in Lake Michigan (which is so big you can’t see the other side).

Stop 4: Vancouver, BC

Best thing I ate: The sushi there is crazy good + cheap

Vancouver was my first time going to Canada, so I was pretty excited. Everything is on the water and looks like it could be on a postcard. In our free time we hopped on a ferry and did some hiking in a national park. My show was headlining at the Biltmore Cabaret, which was a really fun, intimate venue. The crowd was into some of the weirder stuff I played, which doesn’t happen very often.

Best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Solid views of the water and mountains.

Stop 5: San Francisco

Best thing I ate: Clam Chowder

We only had a few hours in San Francisco, so we went down to Pier 39 to get some chowder and see the sea lions. That night, I supported Illenium at his sold out show at 1015 Folsom. Definitely one of the coolest venues I’ve ever been to. Massive space with 10/10 sound.

Stop 6: Toronto

Best thing I ate: Fried Chicken + Waffles (YUM)

In Toronto I played at the Keys N Krates birthday party. Hung out with those guys a bit and they are all absolute legends. Lunice and Araabmuzik also played so it was a really solid lineup.

Decided to do the typical tourist thing and head down to Niagra Falls for a day, which was nice but really busy.

Stop 7: Seattle

Best thing I ate: Mac'n'Cheese

Seattle was great, probably one of my favourite stops on the tour. I played at Q Nightclub with Penthouse Penthouse. It was a Wednesday night so I thought it was going to be fairly quiet, but it was really busy! Fun crowd too (+ I got my own snapchat filter).

In our spare time, we went hiking in a beachfront reserve and went to the Pike Place markets. There’s a little cheese factory there that sells the best mac'n'cheese I’ve ever had in my life.

Stop 8: Denver

Best thing I ate: Don’t think I ate much, I think I had a sandwich at some point?

We didn’t have much time in Denver at all. Pretty much had to head to the show as soon as we landed + fly out first thing next morning.

I GOT TO PLAY AT RED ROCKS THOUGH!

Being able to play at a venue like that is a once in a lifetime experience, so I was very stoked. I hung out with The Chainsmokers a bit and they are really lovely. Super genuine and humble guys. I also met San Holo, who I’ve been a fan of for ages.

Stop 9: Los Angeles/San Bernardino

Best thing I ate: In'N'Out Burger

Last stop of the tour was Nocturnal Wonderland Festival in California. It was up in the mountains, so it was beautiful. We didn’t have a tonne of time to do touristy stuff, but we managed to spend some time at Newport Beach and Santa Monica before we had to head home.
