Watch: COIN - Cutie

The Nashville trio look at control, change, and confusion with their latest smooth pop tune, serving as a taster for forthcoming album.

Hailing from Nashville comes alt-pop outfit COIN and their latest release Cutie. Since our introduction to the trio late last year with their last single Chapstick, the group have been winning over fans with sold out live tours across North America, and impressive streaming numbers.

Cutie keeps to COINS’s pop sensibilities with playful guitar trills, ambient keys, grooving drums and bass, and incredibly smooth and at times sizzling vocals. Overall the track is incredibly polished, perfect for a road trip soundtrack, or pool side hang. Behind the track's meaning, the trio explain that “Three versions of us exist at all times – the actual, superficial & digital. These identities are always changing, each one informing the other. How can we know which is even ‘real’? How can I expect to limit someone to the context of my own self-awareness? ‘Cutie’ zooms in on control, change, and confusion. On a lighter note, the song is about AI tasting a tangerine for the first time. Throw the ingredients in the musical blender.”

The new track, alongside previous single Chapstick serve as small tasters of whats to come on the smorgasbord of alt-indie sounds, as the group gear up for a hightly anticipated forthcoming album Uncanny Valley - out March 25.

While we wait for the albums release, enjoy Cutie and it's official music video below - directed by Louis Browne (Olivia Rodrigo, J Balvin, Billie Eilish) and COIN’s very own Chase Lawrence.

Cutie the new single by COIN is out now via 10K Projects / Homemade Projects / Virgin Music Australia.
