Hot on the heels of her new single Way Up There, the latest taste of her forthcoming debut album, Naarm/Melbourne’s Mathilde Anne returns with a music video that visually details the narrative of the single, premiering on Pilerats today.

An upbeat, jazzy and funky cut of indie pop, Way Up There sees Anne “navigating her way through unrequited public love and never truly understanding where you stand with someone.”

Mathilde expands on this explaining “This song focuses on an over dramatised experience I had throughout my teenage years - over dramatised because I'm a Pisces and everything must be more cinematic than it actually is. The idea was essentially the feeling of being in love with a girl and spending a lot of time in her company in a romantic way, however she doesn't acknowledge you much in a public setting as you are out of the lion witch and the wardrobe and she isn't yet."

These ideas carry over to the video that depicts these themes while seeing Mathilde and band jam out - give it a watch as it premieres on Pilerats today.
