As anticipation for his sophomore album STRUGGLER continues to build, today Genesis Owusu has unleashed his latest single and video, the funky sounds of Tied Up!
A delicious blend of 80s Prince-style funk, post-punk and indie rock, Tied Up! pairs a stomping beat with a wobbly bassline and twisted guitars, while Owusu’s commanding vocals “speak to the heart of the album’s mindset; the struggle of getting by in an uneasy world, and holding onto oneself in the process.”
As with the album's first single Leaving The Light, Tied Up! comes alongside an awesome, surreal music video, with this time Genesis finding himself starring as a boxer, both in the ring and what appears to be a dystopian future.
With STRUGGLER out August 18, Owusu will be taking it on the road in December all around the country, bringing the one and only EARTHGANG along for the ride (except in Perth :’( ) - see below for all dates and check out Tied Up!:
