Premiere: Almond Soy unveil the clip for Coat, announce national tour
The Perth hot-shots will be sharing their next EP, Under The Wait, early next year.
It was just last week when we last talked about Perth outfit Almond Soy, who at the time, were celebrating the release of one of the best singles to come out of West Australia in the past month - Coat. It was a single that brought everything we've come to love from the group as they've evolved into real forces amongst the local indie-rock scene in the last few years; a 'quality over quantity' release pattern allowing their sound to flourish with distinct and focused bursts of their brilliance following off the release of Apartment earlier in the year.
Coat, as we mentioned, is a "blazing embrace of indie-pop that takes what the group have become known for - thick instrumentation, rich guitar melodies - and twists with a pop hook that keeps them looking forward", with the band really falling into that 'up next' crowd of Perth indie-rock that seems to be flourishing at the moment off the back of the rise of Spacey Jane and the likes. "Coat is a song that romanticises the idea of change, the feeling of needing to get away from a cloud that surrounds an individuals headspace," the band said on the track.
Today, however, we come with the single's official video clip, directed and shot by local videographer Jed Steele. It's a hazy, DIY-esque clip that perfectly captures the band at their most comfortable, sliding in a couple of shots of their live show that, as it also turns out, we're about to get a larger dose off, with the band also announcing a tour for early next year. The dates, planned across the country for February, will come off the back of the band's forthcoming EP Under the Wait, which is scheduled for release in January 2020, with the tour then commencing in early February.
There's plenty to look forward to in camp Almond Soy, but for now, dive into the clip for Coat below and catch their forthcoming tour dates underneath that.
