Listen: Simone Strauss - Crush

A dreamy pop offering from the young Boorloo songstress, capturing that special feeling of developing a crush.

From Boorloo/Perth comes the young songstress Simone Struass, a singer and performer from a young age who utilises songwriting as a personal outlet, a therapy of sorts to express her feelings and past experiences in a vulnerable and intimate way. Releasing corner, a dark-pop and somewhat confrontational debut single last year, followed by the introspective vulnerable earlier this year, she presents a lighter and groovier track today titled crush.

With a giddy rhythm and warm guitar strums, Simone’s soulful vocals detail in a dreamlike innocence the feelings of forming a crush. With a knack for tapping into those raw emotions, and translating them into catchy melodies, Simone shares that I caught feelings for a friend a few years back and couldn’t stop dreaming about her, I was super confused at the time and didn’t want to ruin the friendship by mentioning it, so I kept it to myself.” 6 months later, and with the help from some liquid courage, Simone expressed those feelings “Fortunately, she is super cool and took it well, so even though nothing came of it we are still very close to this day. I sent her the song and was like ‘remember when I wrote a song about you? Well... I’m releasing it’ and she was thrilled to have been my muse - it was very wholesome.”

With the promise of an album sometime in the near future, be sure to listen to Simone Strauss’ sincere lyricism and sensational voice with her latest dreamy pop offering, crush.
