Listen: Gonzo Jones - Misty Dreams

The perfect soundtrack to a muggy saturday morning.

There isn't much to say about Gonzo Jones, the man behind Misty Dreams, apart from recording all his music on his own, believing in being born twice and the latest addition to niche Melbourne label Good Manners. But when it comes to his music, of which there should be an EP by the mid-year, there's a lot to say. Misty Dreams works in the same way psych surf-rock does, it's laid back and crammed full of echo but Gonzo Jones takes it step further with some ephemeral touches. Which is just perfect for those muggy days in March when Summer hasn't quite gone and Winter is still working out when to creep up on you. However, the strength of this song rests in Jones's atmospheric but strangely thick vocals; they spread out through the track but his presence is never lost. An interesting quality in a song but a likeable one. And with a strong chorus wrapped around the track it's a surprising earworm that will stick in your head much like the late Summer heat.
