Presenting Back On The Road: A WA regional tour series feat. Spacey Jane, Drapht + more

The tour series aims to help spotlight local talent, and bring them to regional centres often less-toured than Perth.

It feels a bit unfair to type this while New South Wales and Victoria battle a worsening COVID-19 crisis, but back in West Australia? Live music is on!

Today, we're stoked to announce Back On The Road, a West Australian regional tour series that'll capture some of West Australia's most brilliant musicians, bring them together with ones-to-watch that represent the future of the West Australian music scene, then tour them in towns and communities that often get left off tour posters and festival check-ins, bringing local music to local communities to bring a bit of life back to music after so, so much time away.

It's been put on by Supersonic/Billions Australia promoter Paul Sloan, who after years of working with West Australian acts and helping them carve touring careers both in Australia and overseas, is now refocusing his sights on his home state, after the virus all but floored the already-limited music industry on this side of the Nullarbor. "Being a WA based AU/NZ agent and producer in an industry floored by the virus, I couldn’t be more excited or proud than to get back to my roots as a WA promoter and send these local legends around our home state."

The announcement of the Back On The Road tour series also comes with its first two tours, with both Spacey Jane and Drapht stepping up to the plate early, with another two headline acts to be announced. They're all separate tours, with separate lineups, playing the same venues on different days. Spacey Jane will kick it off, starting in mid-August at Kalgoolie before winding up in Broome at late-August, with all dates joined by the brilliant Ghost Care. Drapht, meanwhile, kicks off at a similar time in Geraldton, and wraps up on the same day in Dunsborough, joined by Complete and Downsyde on all dates.

They're two tours that showcase two very different sides of West Australia and the plethora of talent that sit behind it, which for people in communities such as Exmouth and Esperence, don't have quite the same opportunities as someone from Perth to check out live music, even from acts based in their home states.

You can check out all the dates below, and with another two tours to come, keep your eyes peeled as to what's soon to be announced:
