Video Premiere: Tone Youth - ASICS

West Aussie trio drop a lavish video for their latest single of free-flowing rhymes and jazzy beats

Following up their collab with Chicago’s Mick Jenkins on Morse Code, the Boorloo/Perth-based hip-hop trio of T$oko, Robb James and Jimmy Drones AKA Tone Youth are back with a fresh video for new single ASICS, premiering on Pilerats today.

Staying true to the ASICS sneakers Latin acronym “anima sana in corpore sano” (a sound mind in a sound body), ASICS is all about evolving in your own way, while being conscious to take the time to process lessons learned along the way.

With a dusty, horn-laden MPC-feeling boom bap style beat produced by Meanjin/Brisbane’s Heaprize as the foundation, the trio each shine with their distinct & unique styles and flows.

On ASICS, Tone Youth explain "Our song “ASICS” is about giving yourself the time to learn, grow, conserve your energy, and then flourish. It's about taking time off to re-energise and come back stronger than ever. This song is about the evolution of our craft, and celebrating the milestones we have achieved individually and as a collective."

Tone Youth have also readied a luscious and lavish video for ASICS, directed and edited by JustPlay, that sees the trio living it up in a riverside mansion with bottles and feasts galore on the menu.

Give ASICS a watch as it premieres on Pilerats today!
