Introducing imbi the girl and one damn exciting debut single, acidic

Consider us all the way in.

Have a gander at imbi the girl's triple j Unearthed page and you'll see roundly glowing praise for the Sydney-based artists debut single, acidic. And then have a listen to the track itself, and you'll pretty quickly understand why - it's easily one of the most refreshing and exciting tracks we've heard this year. And that is why we very quickly sent imbi the girl a few questions to help us (and you) find out more.

Tell us about about yourself?

Well, my name's imbi. I spend most of my time creating stuff, laughing and vibing with groovy people.

What’s the vibe music-wise?

My music takes itself wherever it needs to go, experimenting with different genres and styles is something I take great pleasure in so there will definitely be a "vibe~spectrum".

Production/writing process?

To be honest, I've never really had a conscious "writing process"; I've been keeping consistent thought journals for almost seven years now so when I write songs they usually mimic the raw, untouched elements of a stream of consciousness journal entry. When it comes to the production, I go hang with my dreamy producer Pat of DeliPres (and his dog Cake) and work with him to create the perfect beat partners for each individual song ~

Can you tell us about your new single, acidic?

For sure - acidic is mostly about coming out of a really psychologically challenging time in my life. It was something I went through entirely alone and couldn't have done any other way, but also, it was an experience which has definitely shaped who I am today and I am grateful for having been through it. Essentially, acidic is a celebration of the menial things that make us who we are, because when we lose them we really run risk of losing ourselves (or at least that's my opinion) ~

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

Lots, hopefully!! I do have a game-plan but everything is temporary and always subject to change anyway so I guess only time will tell ~

Where can we hear more of your music?
