Listen to V12, a high-octane new collab between iann dior and Lil Uzi Vert

The long-teased and high-energy partnership comes off the back of a particularly collab-heavy year for iann dior.

Collaborations have long been instrumental to the rise of Puerto Rico-born, Texas-raised rapper iann dior. His 2019-released breakthrough mixtape Industry Plant brought him together with guests including Blink 182's Travis Barker, Trippie Redd and alt-pop one-to-watch phem, while last year's I'm Gone saw him reconvene with Travis Barker as well as Machine Gun Kelly and Lil Baby, on a record which bolstered his talents even further into the limelight. Throw in a couple of extra tracks alongside PnB Rock and more, and iann dior is a bonafide mastermind at collaboration; someone that can bring his distinct touch to any song, regardless of its key artist.

Last year, however, things began to change. His song with 24kGoldn - Mood - initially felt like yet another notch in iann dior's guest-heavy belt, but the song soon blew up, becoming one of the year's biggest songs and elevating iann dior to the highest possible echelon of newfound commercial success. Since then, he's been unavoidable: Trippie Redd, ILLENIUM, Clean Bandit, Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda, Lil Tecca, Glass Animals, $NOT and so many others have tapped into the iann dior machine for focused verses and catchy hooks.

Now, it's something continuing into the second half of the year, albeit through another way as iann dior steps down from his role as a go-to collaborator and now, refocuses his sights on his own vision. His song with Trippie Redd - April's shots in the dark - brought an example of that, and it's something that likewise shines on V12, his newly-minted new song with Lil Uzi Vert.

It's arguably iann dior's headline collaboration; a partnership between two uniquely different approaches to hip-hop that clash together yet somehow work on V12, as iann dior's typically more reserved nature battles amongst a darting (albeit short verse) from Lil Uzi Vert. It's a thrilling experience brought to life by the production of Nick Mira, Cxdy and Internet Money's Taz Taylor, who unite to create this warped and energetic world that iann dior and Lil Uzi Vert use to their advantage, each side of the collaboration showcasing their craft in their own distinct way.

For Lil Uzi Vert, that comes in the reform of a short, yet succinct verse - one that continues to highlight Uzi's presence as a fail-safe guest in 2021, as he reaches new heights time and time again in the year since his muddled returning album Eternal Awake. For dior, meanwhile, it's something he shows across the course of the remainder of the song, his ability to switch between quick-paced verses and cut-through choruses on display as he drives the beat forward through his switching vocals.

The end result is a lot of fun, and one that re-positions iann dior has a key rapper in 2021. Take a dive into the long-teased single below:
