“This is a great evolution in the Sparrows sound, utilising a deep toolbox of sounds to fashion out an enchanting pop song," says triple j's Dom Alessio on Sparrows' new single Take My Heart and honestly, he's nailed it to a tee. Take My Heart is a charming take on Sparrows' smooth electro-pop sound, pairing her soft, Julia Stone-esque vocal work with a shaking, percussion-driven instrumental accompaniment which just floats in the background and gently pushes the rich vocal line along. Today, the sensational single is joined by an official video clip, directed and shot by Nick McKinlay (who has worked with names like Julia Jacklin in the past) in New South Wales' gorgeous Blue Mountains area. The dizzying video clip sees Sparrows joined by her colourful alter-ego, exploring through the surrounding environment as the day eventually turns to night. It oddly boasts quite a harrowing and haunting feel to it at parts, almost like it's a thrilling tease at some sort of Australian horror flick, which contrasts the single's generally uplifting sound and the more playful parts of the video clip filmed during the day. Watch the single's video clip below, and be sure to catch her upcoming gig next month at Sydney's OAF Gallery.
