Introducing Cruel Noon and their killer re-work of a Breach classic, Jack

It's the first of a few hot new remixes from the Perth duo.

Cruel Noon are an electronic duo from Perth ready to take things up a notch in 2017, and while we have featured them in the past, it feels like this year will be the one they really announce themselves to the national stage. And following on from the release of their Midnight Red EP earlier this year, it starts with this excellent remix of Breach's much-loved house banger, Jack. Cruel Noon have put their own twist on it, we dig it, and it's the first remix of a few coming over the next few months - get ready (and also download this bad boy for FREE):

Tell us about yourselves?

We’re two guys from Perth who have been making music together for the last 7 years or so, Cruel Noon is the latest of our projects.

What’s the vibe music-wise?

We’re influenced by plenty of new music coming out all across the more UK side of the dance music spectrum these days - from grime to footwork to drum'n'bass, but the sound is definitely a throwback to the grit you’d get with boom-bap hip hop and the moody vibes from jungle.

Production/writing process:

Plenty of sample-based production, especially manipulation of classic drum breaks and resampling of various noises we like or have made in the past. A tune will usually start with the drums and percussion which is the driving force of most of our music. We’ll then write a bassline underneath, extrapolate that then add in other elements as we work on the song's structure.

Can you tell us about your new Jack remix?

We both loved Breach’s original and the remix came about as an extension of an experiment with its vocals. It started as a footwork track until we added enough percussion that it kind of became its own thing. The idea for it came up just after we had supported Machinedrum and Om Unit earlier this year and were left inspired by the two.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

A remix package of our Midnight Red EP which came out earlier in the year is currently in the works. Besides that we’re sitting on a bunch of originals and remixes which we will put out every so often for the rest of the year while we work on our next EP.

Where can we hear more of your music?

Our EP is available on SPOTIFY and iTUNES, but If you want to download 320s of the tracks hit up JUNO DOWNLOAD where it’s also listed. Besides that, our SOUNDCLOUD has all the tunes that we have put out thus far!
