Premiere: Aria Wood - Caroline

Naarm-based producer and vocalist balances light and dark on new single of exploratory electronic pop

Pairing fun, exploratory electronic production with dark lyrics is Sydney-born, Melbourne-based producer & vocalist Aria Wood on her new single Caroline, out June 23 but premiering on Pilerats today!

A propulsive cut of leftfield electronic pop, Caroline opens with big, bouncy drums and 808s alongside Wood’s commanding vocals. The production twists and turns as it evolves over the song’s 3 minute 15 second run time, bringing in epic keys-laden breakdowns and atmospheric synths, while all manner of tricky vocal processing is applied to great effect.

Lyrically, the song explores ideas of “privilege, security, the mundaneness of life and pointless drug use”, with the hook “Have a line, have a line, have a line / Caroline, Caroline, Caroline” sure to worm its way into your mind.

For those in Melbourne, you can catch Aria headlining The Gaso on July 21, and everyone can give Caroline a spin a day ahead of release!
