Listen to Medication, a fever dream of a single from Nick Murphy

Listen to Medication, a fever dream of a single from Nick Murphy

The artist formerly known as Chet Faker continues marching to the beat of his own drum.

If part of Nick Murphy's decision to abandon the Chet Faker moniker was in part to just put out random tracks when he feels like it that are sometimes obtuse but always intriguing, then we're into it. According to the man himself, new single Medication "is a song about ignorance and flawed logic... I wanted to see what it was like writing about ego-fuelled confidence." And the resulting track is a hot mess, featuring junky, swaggering production that is weird as it is wonderfully constructed. And it's a hot mess held together by the one steadier throughout this wild ride that's seen Murphy release critically acclaimed albums, slay the Hottest 100 and garner a monsterous fanbase all over the world - his voice.

So you keep doing you Mr Murphy, and you can be damned sure we'll always be pressing play to find out what sonic journey you'll take us on next.
