Listen: Rod Ladgrove - Lift

Listen: Rod Ladgrove - Lift

Rod Ladgrove drops the folk-house in place of sparse pop.

After wooing hearts with a folktronic jam called India, Rod Ladgrove has dropped an elemental pop track titled Lift that takescues from the likes of Broods and Lorde. Why minimalism has taken off, especially in pop is something for a long and wordy think-piece but the outcome is that there is a bounty of morsel-sized music soaring through the ether. Rod Ladgrove’s Lift is a killer example with its steady percussion, comforting beat and looping vocals that don’t ever attempt to overwhelm but rather soothe. Sometimes simplicity is the best way to show off skill, something Ladgrove clearly has in spades.
