Premiere: Meet Flamingo Jones and his funky new single, Sebastian

If you feel like getting tropical, this is the jam for you.

Flamingo Jones is a Melbourne-based producer making music that belongs anywhere but the predominately cold and rainy city. Funky, feel-good tropical vibes abound on tunes the man himself lovingly describes as 'nature beat'. Today we're very excited to premiere his new single, Sebastian, and to mark the occassion we sent him a few questions so you can get to know him a little better ahead of the singles August 4 launch (event HERE).

Tell us about about yourself?

My name is Flamingo Jones. I’m a calypsonian from Melbourne, the capital city of the world.

What kinda tunes we talkin’?

I call it nature beat. It’s a little bit trippy and a little bit tropical, best suited to an exotic/coastal locale.

Production/writing process:

I write and produce everything on my own, so I usually try to have some sort of makeshift studio set up wherever I go. Although I usually find the most important parts of my songs come about without the help of any fancy equipment.

What do you do outside of this project?

I play a lot of Mario Kart. I DJ at various parties around Melbourne. A few friends and I co-founded the Shady Cottage festival this year.

Any shows coming up?

Playing a show for the release of my new single Sebastian at Hugs and Kisses on the fourth of August with many talented friends (details HERE).

And releases?

Sebastian will be out on the first of August along with a dub version for all the disc jockeys out there.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

I’ll be throwing some parties in the back half of the year but mostly just focusing on churning out some more hits! I would also like the sun to come back out some time soon.

Where can we hear more of your music?

My first EP Wet Sounds is on Spotify and iTunes etc. etc. but I would recommend getting along to a Flamingo Jones show for the full Nature Beat experience – visuals, jungle decorations and unreleased music all included.
