Elk Road & Lisa Mitchell mash up Flight Facilities and Tame Impala for Like A Version

Celebrating Aus' Music Month in style.

Electronic artists doing triple j Like A Versions are always a dicey prospect - are we just gonna see someone play a backing track and smack some percussion pads for three minutes? Or will they pack the studio with so many guests, musicians and backup singers that we won't notice how little they're doing in the corner?

This morning for Like A Version Perth's Elk Road managed to delicately toe the line between both, first with a pleasantly stripped back (can't stress this enough - it was fantastic) take on his massive latest single, Hanging By A Thread featuring Natalie Foster, followed up by a busier re-do of Flight Facilities' Crave You, mashed up with Tame Impala's The Less I Know The Better. Adding Lisa Mitchell to cover the Flight Facilities vocal is a nice touch, and by necessity he had to sample Tame track, but he played as much of it live as possible for an altogether killer Like A Version.

It's pretty chaotic, but it works, and you get the feeling it would go down a bloody treat in his sets - look forward to seeing if he plays it at Arcadia Australia next week when he plays the Saturday and Sunday shows, more info/tickets HERE.
