Alison Wonderland drops synthy new single Church, complete with a kid-choir-filled video
It's another cut from her soon-to-be-released sophomore album, AWAKE.
Sydney-born, now LA-based Alison Wonderland is marching triumphantly towards the release of her sophomore album, AWAKE, and today has unveiled another the first official single from it in Church. Arguably the most "pop" track she's ever released, 2018 finds Alison Wonderland fully embracing the singer/songwriter element of her persona, which completes the powerhouse quadfecta (?) of singer/songwriter/producer/DJ. A bouncing, synth-fuelled bop, the video clip for Church (directed by Bo Mirosseni) is pretty great, featuring a young gospel choir and Alison herself, lyrically tackling her personal struggles with relationships, anxiety and self-doubt: “I just wanted to go bigger and really push myself,” she explains on Church. “Vocally, I can hear a massive difference. I’m a lot more comfortable with my voice now and I’m not afraid to get on the mic and just go for it.”
It's a ripping first single from what is set to be one of the year's biggest electronic albums, ahead of one helluva year that will also include slots at Coachella and Tomorrowland.
