It's been a busy few months for The Money War. The WA-based duo have kept busy on the musical front, following their latest EP Life Is Better In Dreams - released last year - with a string of singles that have kept the pairing's subtle indie-pop charm better than ever, sharing the Pilerats-premiered 2020 debut Lifetime and Nothing's Gonna Change earlier this year alongside a new single on Friday just gone, titled Beautiful You. There's also a new publishing deal with Mirror Publishing recently announced, a sophomore album just a month away, and plenty more in the pipeline still be announced.

However, the biggest source of their business would assumedly be their first child together, whose arrival was announced on social media back in September. "This is our boy Jack," they celebrated. "Our new album is all about him and the journey we’ve been on since we found out we were going to be parents." Arriving on November 20th, The Money War's sophomore record Morning People is an ode to the peaks - and valleys - of becoming new parents, and its recently-arriving title single mentioned above is one of its most emotionally potent moments.

It's an ode to the feelings of The Money War's Dylan and Carmen Ollivierre as they welcome new life; a message that seems to capture every ounce of emotion that comes with celebrating new life, as much of a rollercoaster as it seemingly is. "It's a song about meeting our baby for the first time and bringing him home," the duo wrote with the single's release, and you can hear all of that in the beauty that's packed within the song, with Carmen's vocal dancing amongst a subtle pace of gentle guitar and hazy percussion; "beautiful, beautiful, beautiful / beautiful you" Carmen sings amongst the washed-out instrumental.

Today, we're premiering the single's official video clip, filmed by Dan Beard. The clip is a snapshot of the duo's live performance centred in a way that really emphasises the emotion that sits within its lyrics, focusing itself largely on Carmen with tight, face-centred shots that allow you to really watch her mix of emotions as she moves through the single's rich songwriting and strong personal influence. There's something really quite sweet to it all, and in the song's official video clip that really shines through, even in a relatively simple way.

As mentioned, it's the next taste of their forthcoming second album Morning People, and as the duo explain, it sounds like this time around saw the Dylan and Carmen embrace some new processes that reflect in its contrast against the debut record last year. "Initially a bunch of the songs started as straight-up indie rock kind of arrangements but on each song we wanted to try something that we hadn’t done as The Money War," Dylan says. "Although I feel the album spans a few genres sonically, the thread is in the core songwriting and the lyrical themes."

That core in songwriting and lyricism really shines on Beautiful You, and you can take a dive into its official video below. Pre-save the record here.
