Premiere: IVEY continue to mature on sparkling new indie gem, Out Of Time

Catch 'em rocking out a couple of shows at BIGSOUND next week.

It was way back in 2015 when we first shared an IVEY track - Smell Of Smoke - when they were all well under or just cracking the 18-years-old mark. Even then they showed a maturity that explained why they were one of the triple j Unearthed High crop at the time, and now a couple of years later it's awesome to see them growing up into (almost) fully fledged adults without losing any of the vigour of those earlier singles. The single was written by guitarist Lachlan McGuffie and delivered with hauty aplomb by 17-year-old vocalist Millie Perks, and McGuffie talks us through it: "Out Of Time is a reflection of my own flaws, and not only admitting to them, but rather embracing them. I have an addictive and romanticised personality, and the lyrics on this song really touch on this aspect of my character in relation to other people and in particular, lovers. I find myself falling deeply in love very quickly. I become addicted to this romance which at times can be unhealthy, and other times, can be very beautiful."

It definitely appears the past couple of years playing alongside now-peers such as The Belligerents, Tired Lion and The Delta Riggs is wearing off, and we can't wait to check 'em out at BIGSOUND next week. Check those show dates once you've tucked into Out Of Time, below:
