Mona Lisa Can't Fade Her

Mona Lisa Can't Fade Her

King & Queen bae Beyonce and Jay Z shut down The Louvre for a day trip.

The Carter clan – Beyonce, Jay Z and toddler Blue Ivy – are holidaying in Paris after wrapping up their On The Run Tour in mid-September. Over the weekend they had the Mona Lisa room closed off for a private viewing, at famous Parisian art gallery The Louvre.

‘Celebrities doing shit’ wouldn’t really be of note, except that these photos are kind of incredible and rare. If you’ve been to The Louvre you’ll know there’s usually a fuckload of tourists crowding around the Mona Lisa and it’s pretty rare you’d have a moment of peaceful contemplation with the artwork, or have the time to get a perfect selfie like the one Bey and Jay snapped.

Beyonce shared the images on her WEBSITE (which is actually a really nicely designed website). Our favourite is probably the one of a black leather pants-clad Beyonce cutting a fine profile in front of The Last Supper, although the one of Blue Ivy chucking a mini-Marilyn over an air vent and the one of Beyonce posing for a selfie in front of a statue in a remarkably similar position are pretty great, too.

Turns out Jay Z was right when he rapped about Beyonce in That's My Bitch – “Call Larry Gagosian / You belong in museums”, “That's right ni**a, Mona Lisa can't fade her”.

Complex also gathered some pretty awesome photoshopped images of the time this happened - HERE.
