Donald Glover in talks to play a young Lando Calrissian + watch the full Atlanta Season One trailer

Childish Gambino has been a busy, busy man

The extraordinarily talented Donald Glover has been a busy man in 2016, so far. As well as preparing the release of the next album from his hip hop moniker Childish Gambino, expected to be unveiled during a series of shows at California's Joshua Tree in September, and being announced as one of the headline acts for Australia's upcoming Falls festival, Donald Glover has also been hard at work producing an upcoming hip hop comedy/drama for FX. Titled Atlanta and expected to premiere September 6, the semi-autobiographical series created by and starring Glover will follow two cousins working their way through the Atlanta rap scene.

With Atlanta being a particularly storied and revered home for the genre of hip hop, fans can hope to expect a unique insight into a valuable home of rap, as well as the mind of one of the genre's most intriguing talents. And now, at long last, we can get a full look at the series' action through a new trailer debuted over the weekend.

Of course, that's not all the amazing Childish Gambino/Donald Glover news to pop up over the weekend, as reports have emerged that none other than Glover himself is the first choice to play a young Lando Calrissian in an upcoming Star Wars spin-off. Originally played by Billy Dee Williams in the original Star Wars trilogy, a young Lando is set to play a prime role in the upcoming spin-off film, which in turn will focus on a young Han Solo long before the events of the original Star Wars films. And what better choice for the role than Donald Glover, right?

Watch the newly released trailer for Atlanta below, and keep your fingers crossed that Glover will be cast as young Lando, or feel free to let us know if you think somebody else could do the job better.

And while you're at it, revisit Donald Glover's gorgeous Like A Version cover from last year, and prepare for the superstar to hit Australian shores once more to ring in 2017 via Falls Festival. Huzzah!
