American rapper and songwriter Meechy Darko hot on the heels of previous singles On GOD, Get Lit or Die Tryin’ and Kill Us All (K.U.A.) releases his highly anticipated debut LP Gothic Luxury - a deeply personal collection of compositions placing Meechy among the rawest and most candid rappers in the game.

Making up one third of Brooklyn’s critically acclaimed hip hop group Flatbush Zombies, the solo debut produced by Dot Da Genius and mixed by Grammy Award-winning Neal Pogue sees the artist step out not only alone but out of his comfort zone, Darko sharing “I had no choice but to make this the most personal thing I’ve ever done because fortunately or unfortunately, I'm in an extremely soul-stirring part of my life right now. Who I was yesterday may not be who I am tomorrow. I'm not who I was last week. There's no telling who I'll be next year or the year after, so it's very important to capture this while I can still feel.”

Facing the grim reality of his father being killed in early 2020 at the hands of the Miami police, Gothic Luxury is a means of catharsis, Meechy Darko orchestrating deep bass melodies, drawn-out piano intros, searing strings, and shaking beats around his pure lyricism that flows strongly and emotion-filled throughout all 13 tracks. An impressive first LP release, with vocal variations coming from features from Denzel Curry, Busta Rhymes, Black thought, Freddie Gibbs, A-Trak, Kirk Knight, and Vita, Gothic Luxury is a release to be listened to as any good album should be - from start to finish.

Out now, be sure to get across the raw and powerful sounds of Meechy Darko in his debut LP Gothic Luxury below.

Meechy Darko's debut album Gothic Luxury is out now via Loma Vista Recordings / Virgin Music Australia.
