Childish Gambino's Awaken, My Love! is the Sunday comedown album you need right now

A Pink Floyd version of R&B is what we were promised, and that's what we've got.

Three years down the road from his Grammy-nominated sophomore album, Because The Internet, Childish Gambino has returned to round out 2016 in style with Awaken, My Love! With the first two singles from it - Me And Your Mama and Redbone - the tone was set early for something different. And R&B take on Pink Floyd was bandied about as the perfect descriptor, and once you tuck into the entirety of Awaken... it's clear to see Donald Glover has been thoroughly enjoying some serious rock, funk and soul influences. In a world dominated by woozy trap the organic feel of Awaken... is like a breath of fresh air, and we can't get enough of it.

It's a soothing album of psychedelic soul, and will very likely heal yours on a hazy Sunday afternoon, we know it will for us, and we look forward to seeing how it translates live at the upcoming Falls Festival and Fremantle's Falls Downtown over the New Year period (more info HERE).

Until then, sit back, grab a cool beverage, and drink in Awaken, My Love!, below:
