ZHU targets EDM big guns, unleashes new single Nightcrawler

The low-key house producer drops another big banger following the success of his Bad & Boujee remix.

ZHU has always been one to do things quietly. He chooses to hide behind large screens of visuals for his DJ sets, dresses in shadowy, Sith-like robes for his more recent live shows, and on the odd chance he releases a single or a remix, he typically does it with little to no hype. So, when the producer uploads a teasing video on his Facebook, it’s probably safe to assume something big is coming. The dark, haunting video teased new music and took aim at some of the big names of EDM, with the crossed-out names of some of dance music’s biggest (The Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Zedd) emerging towards the end of the clip, which teases something called the “Blacklizt”. Although we’re not quite sure what he was getting at with the names, the musical backing of the video has now been released and in typical ZHU form, it’s a big ol’ house banger. Taking inspiration from the movie of the same name, Nightcrawler is a dark and brooding single, with eerie synth and chords setting the track’s mood before ZHU’s signature synth bounce arrive seconds later.  ZHU’s bright vocals cut through the track’s dark roots about mid-way through, but it isn’t long until a distorted spoken vocal line comes in to re-haunt things up Thriller style. Nightcrawler sees ZHU distance himself further from the commercial-leaning sounds of his debut record, and as much as Generationwhy was a great album, we’re super excited to see ZHU return to his former, dark and mysterious self.
