Wafia teases her new EP with a touching new single, Only Love

The long-awaited VIII EP will arrive on Future Classic this January.

The ride to Wafia's long-awaited new EP VIII has been long, but it's been fruitful. It began towards the start of the year with the elegant and beautiful single 83 Days, which saw the confident Australian singer-songwriter soar with her bold and powerful vocal prowess. It was then followed up with the more personal Bodies, an extremely important single in the current political climate, which detailed the struggles of her Syrian family in fleeing the country to Australia ("I saw a lot of images in the media about people leaving their homes, and I just wanted to make it feel less alien," she said on the single). With the EP's release pushed into January, the Brisbane musician has shared another album tease in Only Love, which again, is another personal single from the musician.

Co-produced by HazeBanda and Roget Chahayed (who together, have production credits on singles by Beyoncé, Solange, M.I.A. and Kendrick Lamar), Only Love sees Wafia's ever-impressive vocals float above a restrained and balanced production that contrasts light and heavy through thick basslines and glittering melodies. The song explores the cultural complexities of coming to terms with feelings for someone of the same gender for the first time according to the musician, who continues to put out some of the most powerful and impactful electronic music in Australia at the moment. Dive into the single below, and pre-order her VIII HERE for its release on January 9.
