Listen to Treat You Right, a spicy new tune from The Jungle Giants

The Brisbane favourites continue their streak of high-class, energetic singles with yet another one.

The last time The Jungle Giants released an album was back in 2017, when they released Quiet Ferocity four years ago. On one hand, that felt like many moons ago - a pre-Coronavirus world, when there were less troubles in the world - but at the same time, it feels like The Jungle Giants haven't really left since - and a lot of that comes down to the consistent string of singles they've released in the years since Quiet Ferocity's loud arrival.

In 2019, it came through the pacing hit Heavy Hearted, which saw the loveable Queenslanders descend heavier into the clubbish electronic touch of their previous work. Then, in 2020, came the double-feat of Send Me Ur Loving earlier in the year and In Her Eyes; a two-piece of powerful dance-pop gems that built upon the sound showcased on Heavy Hearted, and with it, kept The Jungle Giants in the limelight as they continued working on what's next.

It's an approach that doesn't always work, but considering how consistently brilliant each of these singles have been, The Jungle Giants have managed to pull it off. That remains true in 2021 as well, as the crew get back together to launch another new single - Treat You Right - and with it, capture the heart of their sound in yet another way.

Treat You Right isn't a straight up-and-down club-pop banger like Heavy Hearted or Send Me Ur Loving was, per se. It's a little more cheeky and subdued, full of sass and light-hearted fun in a way that feels more like 5 PM pre-pre's meets 3 AM kick-ons versus the main event, where The Jungle Giants have proved to direct their sound over the last few years. A lot of that sass comes from Confidence Man's Janet Planet, who bounces off frontman Sam Hales with this kind-of Nelly Furtado and Timbaland Promiscuous take.

"Can’t wait to finally share Treat You Right," says Sam. "This is one of the first tracks I wrote for the upcoming record and also the first duet we’ve ever released. It’s Janet Planet from Confidence Man singing on the track and she’s brought the sass." Despite being a first for the group, the single is still full of that Jungle Giants fun, which is where the really tend to shine - a mix of vocals dancing amongst another steady production that marries the indie-pop charm with their deeper exploration of dancier sounds they've been moving towards.

The Jungle Giants keep striking gold, and we have no doubts that streak will continue as the group move closer towards - hopefully - a new album to come. In the meantime, however, take a dive into Treat You Right, as it arrives today:
