Egyptian-Australian DJ/producer explores his Middle Eastern heritage and influential club sounds on dope new EP

Bursting on to the scene with his self-titled EP last year that saw support from the likes of Jamie XX, Bonobo, Groove Armada, Hudson Mohawke and many more, as well as topping the Australian community radio charts as #1 most played, DJ & producer Moktar is back with the incredible new EP, Immigrant.

Expanding on the sounds and themes from last year’s release, Immigrant sees Moktar further learning and re-learning his cultural roots, while growing as a musician, artist and human being… making us dance all the while.

Moktar explains “Through Immigrant I wanted to highlight the struggle many people all over the world go through to be accepted, while representing the community in Egypt, North Africa and Australia. Fusing Middle Eastern sounds into sounds into my music has been a big part of helping me become proud of who I am. I feel passionate about bringing these sounds to a wider audience in the hope it helps others in the identity struggle feel a sense of pride too”.

Moktar’s new EP Immigrant is out now Steel City Dance Discs / LG105
