Introducing: MOONZz

Introducing: MOONZz

Ahead of what's set to be a mammoth year ahead, we get to know Californian singer-songwriter MOONZz and her captivating sound.

Sporting one of the most diverse vocal capabilities in the game and a heap of special friends on production duties (she names a couple below, by the way), Californian singer-songwriter MOONZz has to be one of my top tips for artists to break out in 2016. With a collaboration-heavy EP set to drop shortly, we decided that now would be a great time if any to get to know the singer, including what she has in store for her year ahead.

Tell us about yourself:

I'm a California native - but I've always been different. As I grew older I learned that being different is the favorite part I have about myself. My music reflects my life - an intensified journey of self-discovery and constant introspection. Since I released my first single Satisfy I've learned so much about myself already and that will show in my music in the next 12 months and beyond. All I can say is there's nowhere to go but up.

What kinda tunes we talkin'?

I write soul-filled pop with a fiery electronic influence. I love experimenting with different styles and working with friends across the world whether it be KRNE, SLUMBERJACK, Cosmic Quest or TastyTreat (listen to their collaboration, which we premiered, HERE).

 Production/writing process?

I could spend daaaaays on end sitting at the piano. It's the best kind of lost. But sometimes when I sit down and start playing, the process varies. Some days, I work off a chord progression or I hear a melody in my head and start with vocal layers. I work with my Kaoss pad and it's fun to change up my order of writing, and give myself that new fresh canvas. Once I have that idea settled, I usually bring in some talented friends to give it a fresh perspective and it comes to life.

What do you do outside MOONZz?

To be honest, MOONZz is me - my journey and everything I've been through. I'm lucky to wake up every day and breathe MOONZz. I lead, I follow, I (hopefully) inspire, I get inspired - I lead a normal life filled with passion and struggle.

Any shows coming up?

Announcements coming soon! Finishing up the live show aspect. Very excited about the next 12 months.

And releases?

I just released my second single, Deja Vu and will be announcing some surprises in the coming months. I also am having my first single Satisfy playing on the new Victoria's Secret commercial in the USA which is so unbelievable.

What's the rest of the year have in store?

I've been lucky to work with some of the most talented producers out there... I have some big collaborations coming in the next few months (maybe even with some Australian friends *-*), a couple MOONZz EP's I'm working hard to wrap up and I want to make a trip out to Australia so bad. Hoping to get down there in the next year!

Where can we hear more of your music?
