Golden Features and The Presets announce new collab EP RAKA, out soon

When talking about the heavyweights of Australian electronic, it's hard to go past Golden Features and The Presets. The latter have been long-time legends of Australian electronica since before the mid-00s blog-house boom, encapsulating their career, their music and the many sounds these encompass with their last release, 2018's six-years-in-the-making Hi Viz. The former, meanwhile, is kind-of like a new-age take on The Presets, emerging back in 2014 and building themselves a name as an internationally-trodding electronic powerhouse defined by his own 2018 album, his debut - SECT.

Today, however, we learn that each of their first projects since their respective latest albums is actually something done together, with Golden Features and The Presets teaming up for a collaborative EP bound to shake up the foundations of Australian house and electronica - RAKA. RAKA represents the pairing of two of electronic's finest and most influential names, each well-recognised internationally for their distinct, signature mark of house music which as it turns out, is highly influential to one-another as Golden Features breaks down how the collaborative effort comes about.

"Their album Apocalypso was one of my first tastes of electronic music and it remains one of my all-time favourite albums," he says. So much so that when I was 17 I got a fake id specifically to go watch them play Shore Thing in Bondi because I didn't want to risk trying to jump and not making the gauntlet. So, when they reached out a few months back asking if I wanted to work with them I was truly blown away. I don't really like to collaborate a whole bunch as it can feel contrived but this one just felt right. Thank you to Jules and Kim, it's been a dream."

RAKA's release date isn't known just yet, but they're teasing its first taste of it - out this Friday - over on Golden Features' Facebook and it's sounding huge. Check it out below, with their respective tour dates underneath:
