Premiere: Australian duo Choomba continue to soar with Wantchu

The duo, composed of west-coast heavyweight Luude and his cousin Tim Benson, are on a tech-house roll.

At the start of this year, we had the honour of introducing the world to Choomba: a new side-project by Perth-raised dance heavyweight Luude - Christian Benson - and his cousin, Tim Benson. While they hadn't released a song at that point, it was clear the newfound duo were onto something incredible, premiering the project at Sydney's Field Day Festival while teasing new material on the tech-house side of dance, as Christian himself explained: "It’s actually super exciting getting to do something new and building it up - especially because it’s so different to what I’ve already done."

In the time since, the duo have come to be unstoppable, sharing their debut EP Choomdooskins - four tracks that introduced us to the pairing and the many sounds the project may (and can) explore both currently and in the future - and touring the country to cement their status on the live circuit too; Luude's attention to his live show craft shining through once again with Choomba. All up, they're quickly growing into an exciting new force in Australian tech-house, and at the rate they're going, it looks like their push to reinforce their name amongst our bustling dance scene isn't going to stop anytime soon.

Today, however, we bring you Wantchu. It's their first track since their debut EP earlier this year and it's built around that classic Spice Girls sample, bringing together heavy house rhythms and rolling bass to establish the track in quite a minimalist, simplistic fashion, before shattering melodies and that catchy hook takes it to the next level. "It’s been a crazy whirlwind since we put out the EP and it went off and got all this love we never anticipated," the pair say on the track. "All of a sudden we’re playing these crazy shows around Australia, getting hit up by labels and festival owners and working with Diplo in LA."

"Right now we’re most excited to be back at it – we’ve got a lot happening that’s super exciting and it’s all kicking off with this new song and tour," they continue. "Wantchu is 100% good fun energy music and hopefully it’s the soundtrack to a lot of great times for people." Dive into the track below, and catch them touring the country at the dates underneath that:
