George Maple's Lover gets a dancefloor-ready remix from Thomaas Banks
George Maple caps off a stellar year with a fantastic remix of Lover.
Until today I hadn't heard of Thomaas Banks - that is until I discovered he's one half of UK disco/house duo Psychemagik - and it helps explain why this remix of George Maple's Lover is so. Damn. Good. He's taken the sultry, R&B vibes of the already great original and turned it into dancefloor-ready slammer. "For me the original has a real darkness that I loved so I wanted to take that to the next level. I like to really put my own spin on remixes, the aim is to give it an extra lift but still keep the integrity of an original,” said Banks.
And she doesn't mind it either: “Thank you Thomaas Banks for creating this absolute jam. If anyone needs me, I will be sipping my dirty martini watching 80s films in my silk kimono and dancing around my living room."
And while I'm gutted the original's humungous guitar solo is gone, I'll let it slide on account of the tune being one of the best remixes I've heard all year.
