Florian channels the 70s in addictive new single, Star Crossed Lover
The Sydney-based singer-songwriter takes on a retro, 70s disco vibe on her debut single.
Over the past week, there's been a lot of discussion on Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder's I Feel Love and how its forward-thinking, disco feel paved the way for the rise of electronic music. Released back in 1977, I Feel Love introduced the mainstream music world to disco and the world of electronic music, which in the 40 years since, has blossomed into one of the biggest genres on the planet. Star Crossed Lover, the debut single by Sydney's Florian, resurrects this retro, 1970s disco feel but with a new, modernised edge, with the former Voice Australia finalist paying tribute to this era with the addictive new track. The single opens by teasing Florian's electrifying vocal line, which kicks in alongside the single's nostalgic bassline as the single starts to heat up. This nostalgic vibe carries on for much of the track's duration, with the 70s disco bassline and 80s synth line fusing together with a few modernised touches to keep Star Crossed Lover fresh and exciting, which the song has no problems in doing. As far as first impression goes, Florian's foot-tapping epic is a solid start and has us very intrigued for what Florian has to come throughout the rest of 2017.
