Basenji's Top 5 Summer Mixes Of All Time

Basenji's Top 5 Summer Mixes Of All Time

It also serves as nice little insight into some of his inspirations.

Baby boy Basenji has been back in the Australian electronic scene in a big way in 2017. FIrst up he dropped Don't Let Go feat. Mereki, and quickly followed up with a huge Tkay Maidza-featuring single in Mistakes. Since then he's been getting out and about with a brand new live show, a collaboration between himself, lighting wizard and general legend Sam Whiteside and NY-based photogreapher Finn Boyle. You might have seen him rolling it out in the west recently at Sets On The Beach (where the above pic is from), and to keep the summer vibes flowing he's sent us five of his favourite summer mixes to get you in the mood. Check 'em out below, and bookmark this page for your next beach bash.

QT Ray-Ban x Boiler Room

This is one of my favourite and also one of the shortest Boiler Room sets I have seen. This will always remind me of a special moment in music that really captured my attention. I love how surreal the performance it is and how it challenged the traditional ‘Boiler Room’ format. Super effervescent and dramatic.

Seiho x Boiler Room

Seiho is an amazing artist and this Boiler Room set is just too good. I love the thought put into everything, the way it builds quite slowly to a climax and of course the ikebana. Despite being an indoor set there is a such a bucolic feel to everything and a real sense of escapism. Floral!

Nina Las Vegas x justjam

Nina Las Vegas has been one of my favourite DJs for a long time. I couldn’t not pick this set as it starts with one of my favourite Hi Tom tracks (the remix of Vines by the artist D∆WN). This is a such a great set.

Oklou x Animal Crossing Live

I was lucky enough to play at the same party as Oklou in Rennes, France last summer. This is how I discovered her music. There was something about her set that was really uplifting and euphoric. I think maybe I cried when she played her song Defeat. There is no recording of this set, but I have always enjoyed this live version of Animal Crossing.

HONEY DIJON x The Lab Miami

I saw Honey Dijon DJ last summer in Canberra. This was maybe one of my favourite sets of last year. Unfortunately, there is no copy of this set but this one in Miami on a summery rooftop is almost as good :)
