Premiere: VOIID unleash new single Vile ahead of March east-coast tour
The fierce, Brisbane four-piece are already one of our favourites, something their new single only cements.
Brisbane garage-punkers VOIID are a four-piece collection of Australia's most exciting that we've covered before, jumping on board with their single Not For You in the midst of what was a massive 2017 for the band. They continue to grow and go from strength to strength, destroying a BIGSOUND set and smashing a bunch of headline shows over the last twelve months, while also finding the time to drop three spectacular singles - Silly Girl, Not For You and Twin - which tracked their growth and evolution since their 2017 EP Pussy Orientated. They're gearing up for a big 2019 with a highly-awaited sophomore EP due out mid-year, but for now, they're kicking it all off with Vile - a ferocious new single that paves the way for their year ahead. It packs the soaring, thoroughly engrossing punch of their past work but adds a tasteful 2019 touch, bringing their previous sound into the future through its thick guitar melodies and soaring vocal which glides over the top.
"Vile is a song written about a personal experience that caused a lot of hardship and pain," says VOIID on the single, highlighting its personal and intimate theme; something the band haven't shied away from with past work highlighting issues including female objectification. "While the lyrics convey negative connotations, they are relatable to a lot of situations people in their late teens can go through." It comes with a bunch of exciting news, too. The band will be touring Crocodylus and A. Swayze & The Ghosts - two other Pilerats favourites - on an east coast run of shows this March (full dates below); they'll also play Mountain Sounds in mid-February; and on top of all that, they've just announced their signing to Select Music for bookings, and Mafioso Music for management. 2019 is going to be VOIID's year, just try and keep up.
