Premiere: Moaning Lisa make their intentions clear on big new single, Carrie (I Want A Girl)
A song about being queer, loving women, and the legendary Carrie Brownstein.
Although they've only been making music together as Moaning Lisa just over a year, Canberra four-piece Moaning Lisa haven't skipped a beat - last year releasing their fantastic debut EP, The Sweetest, amidst plenty of gigs and award noms. And they kick off 2018 in much the same fashion - kicking arse and taking names with the huge-feeling new single, Carrie (I Want A Girl). Blending all the best elements of 90s grunge with a more modern sound, plenty of reverb, bombastic drums and a hint of snarl in the vocal delivery, Carrie... is "named after rock icon Carrie Brownstein* and referencing a slew of prominent queer women in music and popular culture," says the band, celebrating sexuality - "something we all need after the shit show surrounding marriage equality this year."
The single officially drops this Friday with a video clip featuring a slew of queer/NB artists in Australian music from the likes of Camp Cope, Huntly and more, but until then tuck into the audio below, and catch 'em live at a few upcoming dates, including Psych Fest (all listed at the bottom).
