Adelaide more often than not gets characterised as the place where bands don't play and where no bands come from, but electronic acts like Skies and distant rock cousins Bad//Dreems (not actually related) are tearing apart these stereotypes. Skies, in particular, have just released their self-titled debut EP featuring tracks like Too Young. And while comparisons can only take you so far if you're a fan of the bearded god i.e. Chet Faker and Safia then I'm sure Skies will go down a treat. Especially Too Young with it's playful vocal harmonies and smooth guitar licks that bring to mind a shimmering overexposed photo full of washed out colours. Skies are also going to be kicking it at BigSound and I'd recommend catching them:
Where: The Winn Stage (in The Brightside Carpark) - Winn St, Fortitude Valley
When: 1-1:20pm Thursday September 10 (Horror My Friend are on at 12:30pm who I'd definitely recommend)
What else? Well there's going to a $500 bar tab so a free cheeky beer sounds alright with me.
