Premiere: Listen to Keep Me Awake, the breezy debut single from Brisbane band Layer Cake

Taken from their forthcoming EP.

"Hi we are Layer Cake – another band you didn’t see coming like that dollop of tomato sauce in Paul Kelly’s gravy recipe." So say Brisbane four-piece Layer Cake, who have a debut EP locked and loaded after working on it with producer Matt Redlich (Ball Park Music, Holy Holy), and we're excited today to unveil its first cut (and their debut single by default), Keep Me Awake.

Drawing comparisons with the lighter moments of Arctic Monkeys and fellow Brit-pop faves The Kooks, it has a distinctly Australian slant that makes the Paul Kelly reference in their bio very apt. It's fun, feels good, and is definitely a good time at the races. Take a listen to it below, and catch 'em live at Lefty’s Old Town Music Hall in Brisbane on Saturday 17 November.
