Hey man, how you doing? What have you been doing lately?

I'm good! Lately, I've been working on a comic book. It's going to take way longer than I thought it would. So that's been taking up most of my time.

Can you tell us a little bit about how and when you began creating art?

I guess everyone says this, but I've always made art. I can't really remember a time when I didn't do it in one form or another. Whether it was skating, making music, or painting, I've sort of always done it. I guess I started taking my painting seriously about a year and a half or two years ago. That's when I moved from drawing into painting.

What are your favourite mediums to work with?

I guess I use ink the most, but I always have to switch it up or I get super bored. I've been making a lot of music lately. That's been a ton of fun! I just got some new cameras that I'm stoked to try out. And print is always super fun.

You are pretty busy with art, do you work another job too?

Haha nah. I'm a student at SAIC though. I use to bag groceries, but I quit after like two weeks. I did landscaping for a while, but then I moved to Chicago. I've done everything in my power to avoid getting another job. If I can keep it up, I'd love to continue not having a job.

Bands you've been listening to lately?

Recently, I've been stoked on the Vacation album by Bomb The Music Industry. The Smith Street Band. Frenzal Rhomb. Greenland is Melting. The Queers. Smash Mouth. And The Transplants.

Favourite artist within skate culture?

Right now, Jimbo Phillips. I follow his work pretty closely and he's always making things that make me stoked to get in the studio and make work!

What do you do when you're not drawing or painting?

Hanging out with my girlfriend, making music, watching bad sitcoms, looking at stuff on eBay, riding the train, thinking about drawing and painting, eating, I don't know haha. I have way to much free time.

Best spots to hang out in Chicago?

I'm like the worst person to ask. The only time I leave my house is for food and to go to class. I just chill in my apartment, make messes, and clean them up.

What is/are your most prized possession/s?

uh... I have a pretty impressive/nerdy sticker collection. I have a bunch of posters, action figures, insects cast in resign, trading cards, and other useless things. I'm planning on doing a show of all my weird shit. Maybe within the next year or so?

Last vacation you took?

I don't really take vacations. I might go to the beach, but I still bring all of my paint. I can't stop making stuff. I have a lot of stuff I need to get out and not enough time. I get super anxious and weird if I go a day without working on something.

What was the last thing you drew?

The last thing I drew was a page for the comic. I got two pages done today. I'm about to start working on a painting when I'm done with this interview though!
