Skrillex Selects Slumberjack
The banger-machine has been vibing on Perth duo Slumberjack.
We're not sure what's bigger news this week - that Skrillex just performed a Celine Dion cover on a grand piano on Diplo's boat party in the Carribean, or that young Perth producers/Wonderland local headliners Slumberjack just had their track Body Cry feat. Father Dude (the first from an upcoming EP release) hand-selected by the internationally renowned Skrillex to feature on his Top 10 Tracks on his Skrillex Selects Soundcloud. The second one is definitely more exciting to us... and means huge exposure for Perth's electronic music scene - although Skrillex does have a quite nice voice.
On top of Skrillex's heckers tour schedule (that in the last few months has seen him play huge festivals Coachella, Hard Summer, Ultra Festival, the Mad Decent Boat Party, and will very soon see him jet around Australia for Stereosonic Festival), the producer otherwise known as Sonny Moore is widely regarded for his taste making and talent-nurturing skills - his media platform Nest HQ, and its free-download label Nest, is a haven for artists of all genres and mediums, a "window into EDM culture", giving many young artists a leg up and allowing like-minded people to share music. Skrillex also proved his ear for good tunes with his recent two hour set with Diplo - as Jack U - for BBC Radio 1's Diplo & Friends Show, which we wrote about HERE. Which means Slumberjack can be very proud to nab a spot in that list! Slumberjack's same track was also recently picked up by hugely influential internet chillwave/futurebeat go-to Youtube playlister Majestic Casual, so the boys must literally be drowning in champagne right now.
Catch Slumberjack performing alongside Allday and Willow Beats at Wonderland Festival on December 20, at the Supreme Court Gardens, tickets HERE.
