Lime Cordiale, Mallrat, Spacey Jane + more: Meet your Fresh Produce 2021 lineups
The touring regional festival - a new venture from the team behind Groovin the Moo - launches with a widespread, local-heavy debut lineup.
This time last week, we brought some bittersweet news from the Groovin the Moo camp. First off was the bad news, that Groovin the Moo has been postponed for 2021; the festival not able to go ahead with the current restrictions and constantly-changing regulations for outdoor music events, even in locations well away from where many of the emerging cases have been. The second part was great, however, with the team behind the festival - Cattleyard Promotions - putting their energy into a new venture called Fresh Produce, which will be touring around the country this Spring.
As a quick run down, Fresh Produce is an intimate and homegrown take on the Groovin the Moo Festival that'll visit all of the festival's regional locations - Townsville QLD, Bunbury WA, Maitland NSW, Canberra ACT, Bendigo VIC and Wayville SA - as well as two new editions in QLD's Toowoomba and Glenorchy, Tasmania; bringing one-stage, seated or not seated (depending on the state's restrictions at that time) events to these centres over the course of mid-August through to early-October.
Each festival gets two days, with two different lineups. On the Friday night at each location, will be G Flip, Cosmo's Midnight and Spacey Jane; while the Saturday night at each location will feature Lime Cordiale, Mallrat and Hooligan Hefs. These six acts - a mix of Australia's biggest acts of the moment and some that are bound to be even bigger in future years - will visit every location over the six-week-or-so period.
Underneath these acts, are local lineups that are packed with bands true to the Fresh Produce ethos: forward-thinking and adventurous bubbles of musical excitement that in some way, are bound to be amongst the next generation of Australian music. There are a few familiar names in that lot: Jack Gray and Miiesha in Townsville; Death By Denim and Great Gable in Bunbury; Kinder and Vacations in Maitland; JK-47 and Hope D in Toowoomba; Emily Wurramara and Maddy Jane in Glenorchy; Moaning Lisa and Hands Like Houses in Canberra; Mia Wray and Alice Skye in Bendigo, and lastly Teenage Joans and George Alice in Wayville.
There's a couple of extra treats to be announced in each location - think along the lines of community programs and food vendors - but otherwise, you can take a dive into the full lineups for this year's Fresh Produce event series below, with tickets on sale 9AM local time next Thursday, February 18th - more information on their website shortly.
