Danny Brown is back to his wacked-out best with When It Rain

Danny Brown is back to his wacked-out best with When It Rain

And his new record can't come soon enough.

With Danny Brown’s last critically and fan acclaimed full length album, Old, having been released way back in 2013, anticipation has been astronomically high for the Detroit rapper to release new music upon the world. With the follow-up to Old having been teased and talked about for what feels like years now, and that recent feature on The Avalanches' comeback track, Danny Brown has finally let loose the first real taste of what to expect, with the track When It Rain and its accompanying visual. Finding Danny Brown at his most urgent and frantic, rapping over an anxious electronic backing track (sounding very much like an evolution of what we have intermittently heard from Danny Brown before), When It Rain is Danny Brown at his musical best - quirky, unique and, to an extent, dangerous.

The visual, meanwhile, follows a similar trend; seemingly utilising the home recordings of a hallucinogenic experience to produce a trippy amalgamation of imagery, perfectly complementing the frantic anxiousness of the sound on the Bruiser Brigade label-head’s latest track.
