It's the first single since his third Friendschway EP back in 2018, and comes with a bunch of dates for the rest of the year.

As long as Sydney's Enschway has been releasing music, we've been behind him. Over the past five years, we've tracked his career from early collaborations and remixes to his three Friendschway EPs that have littered his discography across the years, which each spotlight his skillset in a collaborative frame regardless of he's working alongside other producers, rappers, or top-liners on-the-rise. He's played basically every festival in the country from Splendour In The Grass to Listen Out (which he played this year, replacing Whethan who pulled out due to mental health problems), and so on - generally speaking, across the board, Enschway has been killing it.

His 2019, meanwhile, has been kept fairly low-key release-wise. He popped up in the first half of this year to remix The Chainsmokers' Kills You Slowly as a part of its official remix package and collaborated with close friend Made By Tsuki back in April, but otherwise, he's been playing the odd festival here and there alongside working on what's next, something he teased in a social media post a while back: "I know I’ve been quiet on the music front but I’ve been slaving away the last few months trying to step away from the usual stuff I was making as I wasn’t inspired by it anymore," he said. "It took a while but I’ve finally finished a bunch of experimental type music..."

The first taste of which arrives tomorrow in the form of Illusions, but in celebration of a new chapter for Enschway, we're premiering it a day early. As teased, it's a step away from his old sound as he embraces forward-thinking experimentalism, contrasting a bright, cut-through vocal with a dizzying production that moulds his signature out-of-the-box thinking with synth melodies against a pulsing drum 'n' bass edge, taking the Enschway sound into directions otherwise yet to be explored by the producer.

"I started this song as a basic future bass, popish song over two years ago," he says on the single, which arrives ahead of a national tour that'll take the producer across the country for the rest of the year - full dates below. "I sent it to my friend Tim for some vocals and what he sent back was so fkn amazing I had to remake the instrumental to suit. That was two years ago and after literally 64 different versions I finally settled on this iteration. Illusions is a weird mix of a drum and bass rhythm with weird heavy synths, contrasted with Tim's beautiful vocal. I'm so happy with how it turned out and so relieved to finally get it out."
