Listen to András' excellent all-Indigenous mix

Listen to András' excellent all-Indigenous mix

A "tasteful alternative" to yesterday's Hottest 100 countdown.

In light of Survival Day yesterday, what a better way to celebrate the beauty of our Indigenous culture and music than a well crafted mix by András. His mix spans generations of Indigenous musical splendour, with the likes of highly esteemed musicians such Archie Roach and Joe Geia featuring in the compilation. According to András the mix was created in mid-2015, but was shared via Soundcloud a few days ago in the hope it "serves as a tasteful alternative to the JJJ top 100 countdown."

Music transcends politics, so regardless of your political stance regarding the polemics of the 26th of January, this is well worth a listen. For those unfamiliar with Indigenous artists, this a great entry point into a wealth of music that comes out of this vast and diverse country. One minute you’ll be stomping your feet to a heavy guitar riff, the next you’ll be bopping to earthy-house, until eventually you’ll almost feel the red dirt on your face as you imagine yourself casting a gaze across the Nullarbor. Chuck it on in the backyard, crack a beer (or a peppermint tea) and get stuck into some of the artists from the tracklist, which you can read down the bottom:
