Darcy Baylis joins the Good Manners fam, drops new single The Taste Of Cherry

We sent him a few questions to get to know him a a little better.

Darcy Baylis is a Melbourne-based artist we've only really flirted with the past couple of years, but his new single The Taste Of Cherry has definitely captured our attention. The producer/singer/songwriter is switching things up in 2018 following the release of his highly-regarded debut album Intimacy & Isolation last year, and we're looking forward to seeing where this journey into "electronic emo rap metal" takes us in the future. Take a listen to The Taste Of Cherry, and get to know him a little bit better, below:

Tell us about about yourself?

My name is Darcy Baylis, I’m 22 years old and I’ve been making music since I was 5. I spend a lot of time on the internet and I don’t like partying.

What kinda tunes we talkin’?

Electronic emo rap metal. Music that your parents would hate.

Can you tell us about your new single, The Taste Of Cherry?

I was trying to make a song that sounded like a collab between My Bloody Valentine and Carly Rae Jepsen. I was listening to a lot of blink182 at the time, too. But I always am.

Any shows coming up?

Heaps. I’m playing at the arts centre on the 7th of March, then my own headline show at Boney on the 31st of March. Come through I’m gonna be doing guitar solos.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

I’m about to travel the world in a minute: going to Berlin, Belgium, Los Angeles and New York. Trying to blow up. Releasing my new album, too. I’m really excited for everyone to hear that.

Where can we hear more of your music?

Follow me on Soundcloud. Follow me on Instagram too I have good content.
