Listen: The Flâneur - Leiters Up

A mysterious beat-smith out of Spain kicks off his musical journey.

Here at Pilerats, we have a relatively new editorial series called 5 UNDER 500. No, it’s not time for another one of them just yet however I’ve found a little-known producer hailing from Malaga, Spain who should certainly feature in the next instalment.

Inspired by the work of iconic American painter/photographer Saul Leiter (1940’s-1960’s), The Flâneur sees himself as Saul did, a man in ‘no great hurry, a man of leisure, the idler, the urban explorer, the connoisseur of the street’. You can tell the Spanish beatmaker’s rhythms reflect this unperturbed take on life. Leiters Up is a clinic in down-tempo beat work - layers of digital keys, vocal wails and rattling 808's collide to form a calming piece of music. I’d provide you with a little more insight if I knew any more about The Flåneur but at the moment it seems he’s just getting the ball rolling, and what a promising ball that looks to be!

Stream Leiters Up below along with some of the original Leiter’s fantastic work from behind the lens underneath that:
